Babysitter passes are available for caregivers who are accompanying member children. Babysitters/Caregivers must be age 14 or older.

Children must be at least 10 years old and entering 6th grade to attend the pool without a caregiver.

Members are not permitted to enter the pool area prior to the posted opening times. All pools will close 15 minutes before the posted closing times, and members are requested to shower and collect their belongings before the closing times.

SKILL TESTING

Children under 12 years old or below sixth grade must pass the following tests to use the deep sections of our pools:

RED BAND – For access to the slide and long area of the L-Pool up to the 5-foot line: Must swim 2 widths of the pool without stopping except to turn nor touching the bottom (30 total yards, typically starting at the slide and swimming to the other side of the pool and back). Either freestyle with arms coming out of the water or breast stroke are acceptable strokes for this test.

A child who does not have a red band may swim with an adult in the red band section of the pool including using the slide. This does not include access to the diving well or diving board. A white band is required to use the diving well and diving board. This activity may be suspended at the discretion of the Manager on Duty. Please, only one adult to one non-band swimming child.

WHITE BAND – For access to the diving area: Must swim continuous freestyle from the start of the test to the other side of the pool and then back, dive for a ring at the bottom of the diving well, and tread water for 60 seconds. The stroke quality does not have to be perfect but must be assessed as safe. For example, this means that the arms must come out of the water during freestyle and the stroke should be strong enough to ensure the child’s safe swim to the side.

BLUE BAND – For access to the lap pool: Must swim continuous, strong freestyle for 50 yards (2 laps in the lap pool) and tread water for 60 seconds.

NOTE: Any Member may be required to demonstrate minimum acceptable swimming skills prior to using certain portions of the pool reguardless of age. This is to ensure your safety and is at the discretion of the SSC Managers.

FACILITIES

Two swimmers may choose to swim on sides; circle swimming should be used when three or four swimmers are sharing a lane. The lap pool may be restricted to adult use only at the discretion of the Manager on Duty. INTERACTION WITH LIFEGUARDS: Our lifeguards have an important and difficult job and their primary responsibility is your safety. Do not distract them with conversation while they are on the guard stand. Please refrain from arguing with the lifeguards. If you do not agree with a decision made by a lifeguard, please address the issue privately and calmly with the Manager on Duty.

USE OF AUDIO DEVICES: Radios or other audio devices must be used with headphones to avoid disturbing others.

SMOKING, VAPING AND ALCOHOL ARE PROHIBITED ON CLUB GROUNDS

WEATHER RELATED CLOSURES: If lightning is observed and/or thunder is heard, the pool must close. Please exit the water and clear the pool area immediately. The swim club will close for a minimum of 30 minutes. Each subsequent observation of lightning and/or thunder will extend the closure for an additional 30 minutes. Members and guests must wait in their cars or leave the grounds of the swim club during the waiting period. There are no safe areas to wait for re-opening. If this occurs at any time after 7:30 PM, the swim club will close for the remainder of the day. The Manager may also decide to close for the remainder of the day to protect the safety of the staff. If rainfall is heavy enough to limit visibility of the bottom of the pool, the pool will close until such time as adequate visibility is restored. This determination will be made at the discretion of the Manager on Duty.

You can read more information about the weather related closure guidelines by checking out the website for the National Lightning Safety Institute, the American Red Cross, and the CDC.
